Mid MN Cycling Races coming up! (09/17/07)
The 2007 Revolution Cycle and Ski Single Track Escape is this Saturday September 22nd and the Pork Chop Challenge is Sunday September 23rd. The weekend events serve as a fundraiser for both the Nordic Ski Club and the Mid-Minnesota Cycling Club and all proceeds go directly to trail development, grooming, and snowmaking for both clubs. Highlights follow:
* Single Track Escape Serves as the Finals of the MNSCS Series. The course features fun singletrack with good areas to pass.
* Sport Single Speed Race (at Single Track Escape) will serve as the MN State Single Speed Championship. Special prizes will be awarded to the top 3 men's and women's finishers on single speeds from MN including the designation of State Champion.
* Best of Both will be awarded for finishers of both the MTB race on Saturday and Cross race on Sunday. MTB's can be used in the cross race with bar ends removed.
* Pork Chop Challenge Cyclocross features a fun festive atmosphere, is a great venue and a spectator friendly course. Food and beverages will be available.
* A fundraiser skull cap is available for purchase and will enter you in a raffle to win a top-of-the-line Cannondale CAAD9 Optimo Ed30 Cross Frame/Fork. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to trail development/maintenance.
* Kids races will be held at the Single Track Escape on Saturday September 22nd.
* Professional cyclist Kyia Malenkovich, last year's Single Track Escape and Best of Both Elite, Champion, will be giving a free clinic on racing the MTB course on the evening of Tuesday September 18th at 5:30pm at the trail. Please contact 320 251 2453 for more information and to register.
